Expensive!!! I've gotten take out a number of times from this place. The food is good quality but overpriced. I usually order the chicken and rice or beef. So far as the staff goes the owner is usually there. Nice guy. They do offer delivery as well. I probably won't go back as there are plenty of options around for Kabob. (You can basically get the same meal at Rice House of Kabob for almost half the price.) Might be worth a try for someone who is looking for something new.

The restaurant sits on a dimly lit corner on Ponce De Leon. It does not have any parking, but there is plenty of street parking all around the establishment. Upon entering the premises, we were welcomed and immediately shown to our table. There were two other tables dining with only one server, though this did not get in the way of outstanding service. He was very attentive and immediately brought over our menus and complimentary yogurt sauce with bread. While we browsed our menus, he made a few recommendations and explained some of the ingredients. I ended up ordering the Tenderloin Kabob with green rice and my husband had the Chicken Curry with Basmati Rice. The food was ready about fifteen minutes after we ordered. And, honestly, we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food! The tenderloin kabob was cooked to perfection and very tender with a delicious side of rice with herbs. My husband's curry was also flavorful and spicy; he really loved it (AND he's Indian). I really enjoyed my dining experience here. The only reason I knocked off a star is that I think dinner is a bit overpriced for what it is. I would definitely return for the lunch specials or their buffet on Thursdays. Overall, the food is good and fresh, and the service very pleasant.

Came for lunch today for the first time. When I entered the place it was almost full and we were promptly seated. There is a lunch buffet for only $11.95 which is a great price for the Gables. I tried the buffet instead of the menu items and had green rice, grilled chicken, beef, salad, lentil soup and yogurt dip. The food was good, however there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant during the lunch rush, we wanted to have some water and had to wait some time before the waiter noticed us, and we tried calling him several times. I would return and give it another try.

I like to theme what I eat with my reads, so last year when I read a book by Marjane Satrapi I decided to come here. Since then, I've been back once in a while for their lunch buffet. It's on Thursdays and at $12 it's a nice lunch something out of the ordinary. There's usually some type of lentil soup, salad, a ground beef kabob that's nicely flavored, and some chicken. Also there's a vegetable stew and a curry chicken. The curry chicken has only small bites of meat in it, but then I have tried other countries' curry where the meat was just added sparingly as flavor more than as the star of the dish as we're used to see here, so I won't comment on that as I am no expert on Persian food. There's also white rice, green rice and rice crisps. Black tea is offered in an urn. I was surprised to see the rice crisps. I know Chinese and Japanese eat them, but I didn't expect to see them here. So I grabbed some, but when I got to the table I was not sure how to approach it. Trying to cut it with a knife will sure send it flying. Maybe I should eat with my hands? Lucky for me, a nice Iranian next to my table came over, and showed me how to soften it first by pouring some of the curry over it. I highly recommend giving it a try, whether you're having buffet or ordering it at dinner. They do a good job keeping the buffet table filled. The buffet doesn't have a large selection, but whatever it offers it's nicely prepared and full of flavor - a flavor that is a bit exotic but not foreign. If you haven't tried Persian cuisine, or this restaurant, before, the lunch buffet is definitely a good place to start. They don't usually have pomegranate stew at the buffet, but that's my favorite dish if ordering a la carte. Oh they have a yogurt soda. But don't expect it to be your keffir with a bit more fuzz. This one is truly an acquired taste. I was told it's healthy, and it perks your appetite, but definitely not mine...

The lamb shank was exquisite. The service was excellent. The waitress was very welcoming and friendly, and in describing the food, she was helpful and honest. I appreciate this very much. Desert was ok.

Went for lunch today with a friend, Delicious home style Persian (Mediterranean) food. Mom and Pop restaurant, that should explain all.....lunch buffet Thursday's exceeds all expectations, reasonably priced, high quality and freshest salads ever, I feel a little love in each dish.... My new fav!

Visited here for the first time for lunch. Their lunch meal has a pretty good selection of Persian foods. I ordered their beef kabob with rice and a side of their shallot yogurt. It was very tasty and well cooked. Being that I am Persian, I have pretty high standards of what Persian food should taste like. The only con about this restaurant is the portion sizes. Most Persian restaurants give you more food than what I received here. I felt that the skewer of beef was small and the portion of rice was quite small as well especially for the price that I payed. All in all I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try Persian food.

Had a groupon and used for lunch with my co-workers. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Very disappointed.

Ate an early lunch here and it was absolutely delicious! Very friendly and great service. The chef came out to chat with us and ask about our food. I had the lunch special ground beef kebab with Greek salad and the beef was juicy and flavorful and the salad was crisp and tasty with a delicious dressing. Our party also had the herb stew with green rice and the split pea stew. Both were delicious and the herb stew in particular was excellent, one of our favorite Persian dishes. The chef said it was his mother's recipe and he cooks everything by smell! Lunch specials varied from $9 to $15 and the entrees were roughly between about $14 to $20. Checked in on yelp for the free hot tea (was Earl Grey). Was told on Thursdays they have a buffet and would love to go back to try that sometime. There is an automatically added 18% gratuity but the chef who brought us our bill told us we could change the gratuity to be more or less when we charged our credit card so that was nice. Overall, excellent service and food, I highly recommend!

Awesome! I was there a Sunday afternoon with very few customers and the attention was great. They have the most awesome yogurt and cucumber dip for you to open your appetite. The food was great and really authentic Persian. The place was well decorated and would definitely return!

All time favorite Persian place to eat! Classy, clean, and an amazing host! This guy is great! They use very high quality ingredients, and have amazing saffron. I love everything about their food including the pita and yogurt appetizer!

Torange...ah Torange...your hummus... Just the thought of it makes me incapable of writing complete sentences... Unlike no other hummus I have tasted on this planet, it is a PERFECT mixture of chick peas and tahini sauce... Your other fare including the tilapia, ground beef kabobs, and green rice are also highly recommended... Thank you for gracing my palette with your awesomeness. I shall return!

Excellent! Salads are fresh, Persian minestrone soup is hearty delicious with bursts of flavors. The stews are very tasty.

When going on nightly (I use that loosely) walks, we've passed this spot a few times and it's always intrigued me. Well, thanks to that clever little Eat24 app, we decided to do an out of the box take-out. And damn, we're glad we did. We aren't too familiar with Persian cuisine so we chose what sounded interesting. We went with the Fesenjan (pomegranate stew) with a side of Tadig (crispy rice). It was FANTASTIC. The stew laid atop a bed of utterly crispy rice. It was crunchy, chewy, meaty, saucy all at once. Deliciously flavorful. The side of rice wasn't what we thought it would be. It was just plain basmati rice. But, don't let that fool you kids. It was as fluffy as a cloud and so tasty. We were extremely impressed. Definitely adding this gem to our regulars.

3.5 stars. My visit to Torange Restaurant was a cultural renaissance of foreign cuisine and exotic flavor. I tasted spice. I tasted sweetness, and I tasted sour. I confess this was my first time visiting a Persian restaurant, so I will try to be as objective as possible. Like the majority of places located off Miracle Mile, the best place to park would be the side parking in front of the restaurant, so get your quarters ready. The wait is short especially on a Sunday night, so I do not think you will need more than $2 (if you want to get that specific). The minute I walked in to cash my GroupOn (I had a $30 for $15 deal), I waited a few minutes for the waitress who sat me down at an empty table. I noticed the décor for the restaurant was very quaint. They had simple chairs, a statue of a Persian god, a hookah contraption on the side that was not being used, and an old school television that played Persian music videos. It was the start to my cultural awakening. I was handed a menu by my waitress and thought what I should get. I ordered a glass of iced tea and a glass of yogurt soda as I waited. The iced tea was okay, nothing special to it. It basically tastes like any glass of unsweetened iced tea you can get anywhere else, so I highly recommend adding a few sugar/sweetener packets to it. The yogurt soda takes a while to develop an acquired taste to it. It was sour and basically tasted like a watered down melted cup of Greek yogurt. The taste was strong, and I would not recommend anyone getting it unless you are a fan of sour dairy. It is good though, but I honestly had to control myself from creating disdainful faces--the type of expressions you make when you taste something overpoweringly sour. I had a hard time choosing a main meal partially because the sultan meal I wanted (which had a little bit of all the meats) was not available because they were out of certain meats. The waitress recommended the lamb kabob with barberry rice. The dish comes with four lamb kabobs, but the lamb kabobs are very small, and you are able to finish them in two bites each. I do have to admit that they were juicy and tender. There were sides of grilled tomato and onion, which are okay if you are used to it. The highlight of the meal was the barberry rice. It was flavorful, topped with sweet barberries, and the saffron was delightful. I would like to reiterate that I am not a connoisseur of Persian food, but this place has some things they need to work on. I ordered $30 worth of food, and the food did not taste like $30 worthy. I just wish the dishes were served with more meat, but the meat that comes on the plate is delicious. If you are looking for a cultural adventure, I would highly recommend coming here because this place is very homey, and you will surely try things you have never tried. The servers here are also quite friendly.

Horrible service. We walked in were not seated, barely helped by the waiter. Then food was ok. The waiter saw me looking at the groupon on my phone but forgot to mention that when I ordered the buffet that I no longer could use the groupon. They didn't allow me to use the groupon at all for anything that I ordered they said because I had ordered the buffet at one of the items. They told me this when I was checking out. I wasted my time and money. I highly do not recommend this place at all. We were visiting florida and started off our day with this horrible experience. Save you pennies and visit another great restaurant such as eat Greek in Miami. Best service and great food!!!

Admittedly, I know nothing about Persian or Iranian food but it's always good to try something different. Having no point of reference or comparison, what I can say is that the restaurant feels authentic, service is friendly and sincere. The food is prepared with pride and care. We felt like these were dishes we'd eat at someone's mom's house. Start with a pot of hot tea. No need to sweeten it, very good just black. Watch some middle eastern music videos (very entertaining) while you wait. The appetizer platter is a must. While I would normally feel that $18 for a few dips and pita bread is outrageous, I did not at all feel cheated. The eggplant dip and stuffed grape leaves were just so freakin' good and satisfying that I didn't need to order anything else. I usually don't like stuffed grape leaves but these were like none I've ever had. The herbed rice filling was almost like a cheesy risotto, delicious. The eggplant dip is served warm and has a great firm (not soupy) consistency, like mashed potatoes. From what I understand, Persian eggplant dip gets it's body from eggs, tomato paste and sometimes whey protein. That's the Alton Brown in me coming out, when something is really good and really different I must investigate. Also a must is the crispy rice appetizer with stew. We had no idea what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. It is basically a sheet of the crispy rice that sticks to the bottom of the pot (best part) served with stewed fenugreek leaves, red beans and beef. The beef is just added for flavor so don't expect a beef stew. After the BF picked off 2 chunks of beef, I couldn't stop eating this dish, reminded me of grandma's collard greens. Finally, BF was not impressed with chicken. It looked a tad dry but this is also not what they specialize in. The barberry and safron rice were okay. I would gladly pay extra for brown rice, white rice is just completely void of flavor, not to mention nutrition. Torange, please offer whole wheat pita as an option!

The appetizer are delicious. The eggplant dip and the stuffed leaves are perfect. I can not say how incredible is the ice cream. Perfect. The service was really good.

Love this restaurant. The first time we went, we were greeted by the owner and then seated promptly. The waitress proceeded to describe in detail everything we asked about on the menu. She was so knowledgeable and friendly that I could have listened to her all night! The food was served quickly and was absolutely delicious. Our Groupon was honored with no problem. I just received an email from them offering me a coupon for my upcoming wedding anniversary! I was very impressed and will definitely be utilizing it very soon!

Beautifully prepared and presented. Great fresh ingredients and very generous portions. Torange is a gem amongst the more corporate restaurants that are taking over downtown Gables. The food is scrumptious and the service is very friendly. The Greek salad alone had tons of feta and olives - something many other restaurants fail to provide. I will make this a regular on my Miami visits.

Have been here twice. Imagine a Persian family restaurant that wants to make you feel at home with their home cooking. Loved the kabobs, the lentil soup and the kobidas. I would skip the crispy rice but my friend loved it.

I have to say I am extremely disappointed. Based on the reviews on yelp I expected this place to be a great and I bought a Groupon to try out a new restaurant. My experience was so lousy that I decided to make a yelp account JUST to express how poorly I think of this place. The moment my boyfriend and I walked through the door, we felt uncomfortable. It was very quiet and empty and we stood by the door waiting to be seated. The one waiter there didn't even say a single word to greet us...he just stared at us and walked towards a table and placed menus down then walked away. NOT a good first impression.... his attitude and demeanor looked as though he was just irritated that customers had shown up to this ghost-town restaurant. I can't say the food was bad because we didn't get that far. When he returned to the table to take our order we told him that we needed a few minutes to which he replied: "well just so you know im leaving and the next guy isn't coming in until 20 minutes." We just stared at him in disbelief and said: "are you serious??" He was the only waiter and we were the ONLY two customers in there and he said that he was leaving and that we wouldn't have a waiter for twenty minutes. Someone please tell me how the hell that is normal or acceptable. As soon as he walked away to talk to whoever his supervisor was (couldn't she have taken our order?). My boyfriend and I decided to leave just as the second waiter came in because by that point I was unwilling to invest any more time and money there. This was just too unprofessional and their waiter is ridiculous....you don't tell a customer that they arent going to have service for twenty minutes...you either wait for your co-worker or someone else can take over until he gets there. It was thoughtless and rude! Luckily, ten minutes down the road was Red Koi...THEIR staff at least understood manners and greeted us...USING WORDS. Wasted Groupon. Wasted time.

The food was delicious and the spices were just right. I truly enjoyed this meal and great service that came along with it. Lamshin was excellent. My husband tried one of the screws and that was very good as well. The service was very personable and warm. The homemade ice cream was extremely delightful. The prices were really good as well
(5)Jorge B.
The Eggplant appetizer is memorable and worth the visit. Add the exquisite Persian Stews and we will be back again and again.
(5)Sean m.
Delicious food and very friendly service. We tried the eggplant appetizer which was tasty. We moved on to the chicken kabob with green rice and the pomegranate stew for entrees. Both entrees were delicious and recommend them both highly. Server (owner?) was very friendly and recommended the right dishes for our first visit. If you are in the neighborhood stop in and try this place!
(5)Hernani A.
We went there for my birthday and the waiter (which i think owns the place) was extremely nice! Food was awesome (but kimchee was different than what we know as kimchee) dessert awesome, loved the music, its a small place, exotic and not pricey at all.

I just submitted my feedback on my experience on Groupon and found it necessary to write a review on Yelp as well. For starters, when you enter the restaurant, no one greets you, no one says welcome, you just get this exhausted look from one of the servers and you're left to wonder if you can just seat yourself. Throughout the entire dining experience we received attitude from the server. I would ask him a question and he would look at me like I just said the most ridiculous thing ever. He was forgetful, he was distant, he did not care about serving us. In addition, the prices at this place are OUT OF CONTROL considering the bland food we got. I ordered a chicken kabob with berries ($18) and my boyfriend ordered a chicken kabob with rice ($16). They were basically the same thing and both tasted so bland. We also ordered two beers, both warm, both served in a hot glass. The bill came out to $55 - I could have spent that same amount or even a bit more had I gone to a high-end restaurant in Miracle Mile or used that money for a more pleasant and fulfilling dining experience at a local Miami Spice participating restaurant. I almost can't believe how terrible this all was. I'm also just as upset about the fact that they automatically add 18% gratuity to our bill - first, we were a party of only TWO and second, I think it's a total scam to automatically add gratuity when in all honestly, 18% was not deserved. It makes me wonder if their business plan is to automatically add an 18% gratuity since they KNOW their servers and food are terrible. Never again. My word of advice: do NOT purchase the $15 Groupon that's out there to this place, you're going to end up with a ridiculously high bill and a bad mood.

Ordered delivery for the first time tonight: -Torange Appetizer (hummus, grape leaves, and eggplant dip) -Lamb shank with green rice -Pickled vegetables (its really pickled garlic) -Crispy rice (this reminds me of my grandmother's "raspitta")...... YUM!! I am so happy I discovered this place because it's absolutely delicious.

Coming to Torange this past Sunday evening was an unexpectedly terrible way to close out the weekend. I had come here once before and had a pleasurable experience with some coworkers, so I was looking forward to some yummy Persian food with my boyfriend who had never been there before. First of all this isn't about the food, the food was acceptable. This is about the experience. We walk into a completely empty restaurant which should have been a sign. The "waiter", a seemingly annoyed older gentlemen whose foul body odor wafted into my nostrils and almost annihilated our appetites, didn't welcome us, he simply pointed to a table and asked us what we wanted to drink. The mood was terrible, it was musty, empty and quite frankly the place should have been closed. We stayed on account of how hungry we were. We ordered pomegranate stew and lamb shank. I didn't expect this place to be so pricey but we hoped the food would be worth it. The pita we received to munch on was frigid (would it hurt to toast it a little?). We get the food and the portion size on the chicken was enough for a picky toddler, I mean it was not $19 worth of chicken. In the end our total bill was a little over $60 and it hurt. It wasn't worth it, the restaurant remained empty the entire time we were there. I don't mind shelling out the dough but I want to do it in a place where I feel welcomed and where the trade-off at least attempts to be equal. I won't be going back...going out to dinner should be an enjoyable experience where you give yourself the night off from cooking and feel good about doing so. This wasn't that. PS - a glass of unnamed table wine here is $9...it isn't listed on the menu so I figured I'd disclose, wouldn't want anyone else to be blind sided PSS - if the owners are reading this...i don't mind music from all cultures, in fact i think Persian music is beautiful, but the huge TV with the out of date music videos and the blaring club beats do not a nice ambiance make

Tarnhe was amazing, Nice place. Great Food, Unique Desserts. Very great Choice. I'm full and happy.

Excellent service, great food and loved the experience. The service was fast, good, and pleasant. Really loved the shrimps! Full of rich flavor and explosive taste. The green rice was well prepared and tastes great. They have lunch specials/buffet Thursdays worth checking out. As far as money goes it's $$$ but well worth the experience. It's located in a corner and it's east to spot. I will definitely visit Torange again soon! I give them 5 stars overall!
(5)Kathleen M.
I have catered from this restaurant twice. My guests were thrilled with the food. It is excellent. I ordered the hummus, eggplant and grape leaves appetizers. Then the beef kabob and chicken curry, and green rice, which is my favorite. Don't expect a lot of chicken in the curry, but the flavors are excellent! They are very friendly and welcoming here. The food was prepared on time and was exactly how I wanted everything. Can't wait to go back.

Went here last night after deciding to buy the groupon after solid reviews on Yelp. My wife and I showed up around 8pm on a Wednesday there was no one here.... We started with the Eggplant dip which was quite bland and not all that great. The bread was also a bit old, fresh pita makes all the difference. My wife ordered chicken kabobs and I ordered lamb kabobs. Both of them were bland, overcooked and generally not very well executed. The meat was all overcooked, and under seasoned. It's very easy to ruin lamb when you make it well done, this is what was done to my poor sheep. The portions were very small on the kabobs, especially considering the Lamb was $22! My wife got a side greek salad, which was essentially chopped onion, cuke and tomato, she said it was boring. I opted to try this green rice, which was very well done and the best thing I had during the meal. The service was great, which is what the extra star is for. Overall for the money and quality there are much better places to get similar middle eastern food.
(2)Nancy M.
This was the best Iranian food I've had. We thoroughly enjoyed the pomegranate stew (khoresh-e fesenjÄn) and the herb stew (ghormah sabzi) along with eggplant dip and Persian ice cream, which we ordered from the full menu with a Groupon. We were the first to arrive for an early Saturday lunch, which afforded us the opportunity to converse with the chef, who visited our table frequently. We plan to return on Friday, 3/20, for the Persian New Year (Nowruz).buffet.
(5)Brian G.
Torange's pomegranite stew has a really good taste!! but it had very little chicken and what there was, was overcooked. the souse and the rice were out of this world. their yogurt dip was also very good, as was there house salad. i am not sure i would order a kebab, since they overcooked my chicken. Torange has potential, if they would pay attention to detail.

I was at first so excited about finding this place. I took my wife one night to this place. Once we opened the door, thee was this weired smell bothering us. I have visited many Persian restaurants and this smell did not belong to a place like that. Anyway, the waiter was great. He brought the dish very quick. We ordered kobideh with basmati rice. Once the meat was into our mouth my wife wanted to leave. There were many things wrong with that dish. I need to write a book if I want to describe the taste, quality, and the owners behavior. So my point is that not much to go back there.
(1)Naty K.
This place was recommended by a Persian doctor. I went a few years ago with him and a friend of mine and enjoyed myself. I am not sure why we never returned, although the price might have been a motivating factor, plus the fact my friend was vegetarian. Since like 98% of the dishes are not vegetarian-friendly, that probably had a lot to do with it. I had tried Persian food before because an ex-boyfriend of mine would cook it and because he introduced me to Persian food at Shiraz Kebab some years ago. To me, if a Persian says this place is authentic, then it must be authentic, so I trust both the doctor and my ex-boyfriend's cooking. I don't mean a second-generation Persian, but someone who's only been in this country for a couple of years. Considering it was just like his cooking, I feel I have a certain degree of authority in saying this place is authentic. When I saw on LivingSocial that there was a coupon, I knew I had to purchase the voucher, due to my past experience, as detailed above. I was so happy I'd get to go to Torange again that I took advantage of a Saturday evening to eat. Surprisingly (and disappointingly) the place was empty. Did the menu change? I could not understand why a place of which I have fond memories would be empty, but it might be because we arrived about 30 minutes prior to the kitchen closing. We were greeted and sat at a table of our liking. The service started off spotty, I must admit (it took 10 minutes to get water, and at that point the server realized he'd forgotten to give us menus), but the friendliness and attentiveness thereafter more than made up for this fact. We were treated to complimentary pita and a dip very similar to tzatziki, but more watered down, with cucumber and in this case, mint. It was delicious although it would have been better if the pita had actually been warm. We decided that in order to experience the best of the appetizer world presented to us, we had to get something that included a bit of everything, so we got their signature appetizer. This came with stuffed grape leaves, baba ghanouj, the traditional salad, and hummus. The stuffed grape leaves were plump, juicy, and delicious. The eggplant dip was the best I have ever tasted, with a sauce that might have been tahini garnishing the appetizer. The traditional salad was light and had the perfect balance of oil and lemon. Unlike other salads, it does not contain lettuce, and is the perfect way to keep cool. This appetizer lets you experience everything they have, and the portions are generous enough for 2 to share. Although I was curious to try the pomegranate stew, our server, Tony, recommended getting the lamb shank as well as the Sultani Kabob Combo. The lamb shank was so tender it melted off the bone. It came with stewed potatoes as well as something quite interesting: green rice. It's green because it has dill and lima beans in it, which make it green colored. The Sultani came with chicken, tenderloin, and seasoned ground beef. It also came with rice, but this time, the traditional white rice with a pinch of saffron. Both were delicious, and I advise using Sumac in vast quantities for some pizzazz and health benefits. To drink, he recommended the Persian tea, which he said is the best, and it was delicious. You get 2 free refills, which for me, was enough. I see some people complaining about the rice being dry. Sorry folks, this is not Cuban cuisine or any other cuisine that you may be thinking of that contains moist rice. This is how Persians make their rice, and if you don't like it, maybe it's just that you don't like this type of cuisine, so don't blame the restaurant for keeping its traditions. Moving on, for dessert, we wanted the Persian Ice but they were out, so we got the Zolobia and Bamia. It's hard to describe what this is like, it's something like ramen noodles frozen together in a liquid made out of ice, rosewater, and lime. Although at first it may be a bit bitter, it grows on you and starts tasting sweeter. It was definitely exotic, so it was a nice change from the usual. Our waiter kept telling us about "back home" and although it was nice to hear because I could just imagine sitting on a porch in Iran eating with family, it was also sad to see how much he misses his home country and how so many things remind him of it. Case in point, the tablecloths. Some reviewers have said they remind them of a grandma's doilies and that's the point, he's trying to give the restaurant a homely touch. It's supposed to remind you of being at home so you feel comfy. Tony went out of his way to be friendly and make us feel at home. He gave us no problem whatsoever when we turned in our coupon with the bill. A week later, a new Torange deal popped up on Groupon and I quickly snagged it. I can't wait to come back! PS: For those of you working/living in the Coral Gables area, they offer a Thursday only buffet for I think $10? Lucky you indeed!

Favorite Persian food in all South Florida! The best Hummus ever. Service is top of the line and food is best quality. My fiancee and I are hooked.
(5)Raquel D.
Like many others, a groupon brought me here. And... like many others, I left stuffed and satisfied! The boo and I split the following: Torange appetizer (eggplant dip, cucumber tomato salad, hummus, and grape leaves), pickled vegetables, Persian minestrone soup, and chicken curry... rounding it out with Persian ice cream with the small amount of space we had left in our stomachs. Holy feast, Batman! It was more than enough food for both of us. Everything was on point! That appetizer sampler truly is a great investment, and I'm pretty sure four people could have split it and been satisfied. The stuffed grape leaves and salad really stood out. The eggplant dip was kinda heavy, so as delicious as it was, I tried to not stuff my face with it so I could have room for everything else... strategic face stuffage, yes. The pickled veggies were probably the thing we ate the least of, just because we were expecting something else (it ended up being a LOT of pickled garlic... but we of course each ate one or two pieces because vampires and whispering sweet nothings are overrated). The minestrone soup was thick, chunky, creamy, hearty... probably a good meal on its own, even. The chicken curry was delicious and spicy, and the basmati rice it came with complemented it perfectly. Finally, the Persian ice cream. Very cool, and very different! Really heavy on the rosewater, with some pistachio and saffron. I could see how this could be hit-or-miss with most people, as the rosewater is kind of overpowering, but I liked it. Oddly enough, my boyfriend could not taste or smell the rosewater. We believe we have discovered that he lacks the taste buds necessary to appreciate it. He swore the whole thing tasted like straight up vanilla. Negatory. Pure rosewater to me. We left feeling amazingly full and so grateful for the service. Our server (also the owner!) was so kind, and all of his suggestions were fantastic. He also informed us of their Thursday lunch buffet, which is crazy cheap, even for a forever-broke college student.

The sampler was delicious. I'm in love with their hummus and eggplant dip! We ordered the stew and rice, and I had the vegetable fried rice. Both were yummy, but I've also had the kebobs which are amazing. The server was so friendly and greeted us with a huge smile plus the bathrooms are incredibly clean. I also forgot my cell phone in the restaurant and our server came outside to find me and return it. Thank goodness!

3.5. After reading so many glowing reviews and having a hankering for some good Middle Eastern eats, I told a friend of mine to meet me in the Gables for a fun catch-up lunch at Torange. There weren't many people inside the restaurant on the particular Thursday on which we ate. That always makes me more sad than suspicious. After glancing at the menu for a bit, we decided on getting the buffet. My friend stuck to water. I ordered the yogurt soda. The yogurt soda was a bad way to begin the meal. It wasn't at all to my taste but that's probably more my fault. I asked questions from the waiter, but there was a language barrier and much was lost in translation. Rather than something thick and delicious like a lassi, this was thin and particularly bitter. I'm assuming that it's an acquired taste. I just don't think I've acquired it. Needing to run from that beverage, I swooped in on the buffet. Evidently we arrived towards the tail end of the lunch run; the offerings weren't very fresh. I wish that had been communicated when we ordered. Alas, we soldiered on. I can make a meal of dill rice, chicken and sauce -- and I did. The other options (lentils, kabob, etc.) were either trace remnants in the tray or dried out. By the time I went up for a second helping, the waiter was removing the items. Again, a bit annoying. I would have rather been told the buffet time was nearing (or, at) its end so that I could have ordered from the menu. The dining room is of a nice size and the windows let in a lot of light. This is a good thing, as you will want to have a view of your car for when the meter maid makes her rounds. Seriously, Coral Gables, you need better parking options. The owners were nice people and our waiter tried very hard (he was a bit rushed & distracted because he was on his way to English class and was the only waiter at the time). Perhaps with a different dining experience, I could echo the raves of my fellow yelpers. Unfortunately, my experience doesn't allow me to leave more than three stars. My chicken with rice was nice but I could have ordered that directly from the menu. There was no need to order the buffet if those were my only real options.

Really great place... friendly owner and Chef ("Tony") that greets you and takes good care of you during your meal. Super nice guy, great food. What's not to like? Have been there twice now. Had the Rack of Lamb (very tasty!) last time and this time tried the chicken skewers with rice. Delicious chicken,,, marinated for at least a couple of days. Basmati rice was cooked perfectly. Thursdays they have a lunch buffet for $11.99. You get to try all their dishes - all you can eat. will definitely be heading over to try that. Good Persian food with great service. Stop in and try this place out. you'll be happy you did! :-)

This place is delicious, and I don't understand why it's not packed every time I go (though maybe it's because I've only been for dinner and it's more of a lunch place). The kabobs are plenty flavorful and formed just right. The rice is the perfect complement to the meat. The eggplant appetizer is delicious, and I don't even like eggplant. Whatever they're doing with their feta cheese really elevates it. Overall my meals there are always just bursting with delicious flavors. They always seem to throw in a little something extra and the service is so... almost reverential of their customers that it takes the whole experience to a higher level. I plan to be back often.

Very clean and nice family place. Excellent food well cooked with attention to detail. Very reasonable price for the quality and amount of food. Between my husband and I we gad the Beef Kabob, grape leaves, yogurt with cucumber dip, beef stew, baklabah and the ice. I would go back anytime. This place should not be overlooked. Service was outstanding as well.

I've been to a couple of Persian restaraunts in South Florida since I came to UM a few years back: Saffron, Shiraz, Caspian (which is the best I've had, management has changed though recently). Being Persian and having been to Iran once, I know a bit about quality/authenticity. When it comes to Torange, I can say that it definitely has an authentic feel and is downright tasty at the same time. The kubideh (ground beef) and joojeh (chicken) kabobs are tender, and they're included in the buffet which is awesome! I tried the Kabob Barg (beef tenderloin) once and I liked it, but I find this the hardest kabob to make well so it's tough to find a place where it's top of the line. Other than that, the stews I've tried (Herb stew and Beef Stew) are good and taste similar to that I had growing up. The Chicken Curry is flavorful and has a nice little kick to it. I can't comment much on the appetizers because I usually zero in on the main courses for the buffet, but I definitely will try the eggplant dip that is all the rage. By the way, the buffet is a great deal! I haven't ordered the kubideh or joojeh off the menu, but a quick eye test makes me think there isn't a difference in quality. All in all, Torange is a gem in Coral Gables. It's not far from my condo so I've had the pleasure of trying it several times, but I can't make a habit of eating $20 meals on a regular basis. While it may not blow away some Persian connoisseurs, it is good Persian food nonetheless and will invigorate your palate when you want a break from your standard diet.

Homey, well caring family staff, authentic ornaments, delicious mouth watering food, nothing to complain about!
(5)Sid D.
Not the best place. Koobideh kabob was not good at all, but Barg kabob was fair! Rice was bad too... And the worst, Waitress was rude!!t!
(1)Yessy M.
Been a here a couple of times now and every single time its been great, so don't be discouraged if you walk in and there is only one other table there for dinner. (they get busy for the lunch buffet) The owner is usually the server and he is extremely friendly...sharing jokes and talking about sports. The food is really good...chicken curry, barberry rice and kabobs. And for dessert try the baklava..its different than the mediterranean baklava but still very good.

This is one of my most favorite restaurants in Coral Gables and the only authentic Persian restaurant in South Florida. The food here is absolutely delicious. The restaurant is run by a family from Iran - they are wonderful. You must try the buffet for Thursday lunchtime. The lentil soup and the ground beef kubideh kabobs are absolutely delicious. Each dish I have tried is prepared on the spot by the family matriarch; there is no detail that is sacrificed when each meal is prepared. You can taste the freshness in each bite. The atmosphere is wonderful and the location is perfect. If you are in the mood for authentic fresh Persian food (which is also super healthy) Torange is your place!!?

I can't believe how lucky I was to eat here. I was staying in Coral Gables for a friend's wedding and while walking around trying to find a place to eat lunch on the day of the wedding, I came up on this place. I was born in Iran, and I'm 100% one of those guys who thinks that his mom's cooking is the greatest, especially when it comes to eating at Persian restaurants. The problem I've found with a lot of Persian restaurants outside of California is that they won't serve the really traditional dishes (tadeegh, fehsenjoon, zereshk polo, faloodeh) but would rather play it safe with the standard offerings (name a kabob, any kabob and that's what you'll find on the menu). Torange is not one of those place. The zereshk polo was delicious. The other items were a treat and the service was fast, friendly, and attentive. I'll definitely come back again when I'm in the Miami area and have already recommended it to many of my friends who live nearby.
(5)Teresa K.
I really wanted to like this place but the service was meh, the food was meh and they were playing network television while we were eating at a loud volume even though there was no one else in the restaurant. Don't think I would go back.
(2)Megan S.
Delicious food with comfortable ambiance that delivers on all factors. Service was attentive, knowledgeable and gracious. Food was flavorful and their rice varieties are well seasoned and mixed with all the entrees. Their appetizers can make a meal if in a group but their food is equally as filling. Careful with parking and have a stack of quarters ready but beyond worth it.

Loved their Persian (Iranian) food as it was hot and very tasty. My girlfriend and I shared the Pomegranate Stew with fried walnut, pomegranate paste, mixed with chunks of chicken; and the Beef and Eggplant Stew with chunks of beef, yellow split peas and fried eggplant cooked in tomato sauce. The Pomegranate was our favorite. The waiter was very nice and informative. As a matter of fact we spent a lot of time just speaking with him about Persian food and it's origins. Two negatives for me were that the lights were way too bright and the TV was too loud. But, this may just be my personal preference.
(4)Sandy G.
I've probably walked by this place 40 times because I could never tell if it was open or not but last night I decided to try the door and it opened. Boy am I glad it did. I love Persian food and I have not been able to find a place that would keep me coming back. Well, I finally found it. The food was amazing. Everything we had was seasoned to perfection. The eggplant appetizer was the perfect texture and bursting with flavor. The simplest Greek Salad was delicious and my favorite part was what they call Green Rice. The authentic name for this "green rice" is Baghali Polo and it basmati rice seasoned with Dill and Cilantro and it has lima beens. I ordered extra, it was so good. I can't wait to bring my friends here!!

OK, first off, I am an adventurous spirit when it comes to foreign cuisine. In fact, I love going out of my comfort zone and trying new things. Since I am a lover of the Middle Eastern cuisine, I was excited to give this place a whirl. Mind you, I understand that Iranian/Persian cuisine is going to have its variations to what the standard Middle Eastern flavors are, but as it turns out I was not all too pleased with Torange, which surprises me because this place as of 8/8/11 has four stars. Speak English. I understand that you are running an authentic establishment serving genuine Iranian/Persian food, but c'mon, have the waiters speak English. How are we to navigate a menu with foreign terms if you can't provide a coherent explanation? Last time I checked I wasn't able to speak Farsi. You're supposed to make us feel comfortable with our selections. Fortunately for us, we were still able to manage, but for others it might be a big turn-off. Speaking of turn-offs, the one main reason I give this place two stars, is my undercooked lamb. I mean, I consider myself educated enough to understand that some meats are meant to be pink, but seriously, if you all had looked at my lamb, I think you would give two stars, too! It was cold and raw (how about that, Torange?!). I complained to our waiter and all we got in return was some tea and two dessert crackers. Are you serious! Not even an offer to "re-cook" my lamb or give me a fresh plate... Sorry, Torange! I wanted you to be my "go-to" for Persian, and in fact I am kind of saddened by the way things turned out, but I didn't feel you cared enough over my undercooked lamb for me to warrant another visit. That's just a big no-no!
(2)Juan Jose D.
The problem with this place for the people with bad reviews is simple; is very authentic, some complain about too saffron or not moisten rice, well this is just the way Persian food is. Unfortunately the waiters don't speak a lot of English and they are shy so that again makes your experience difficult, but if ask, they will try to guide you through, if you haven't tried Persian food never, give it a chance on Thursdays buffet with a very reasonable $10 all you can eat pricing that includes tea and dessert on top of several dishes. They also have some nights with belly dancer. You won't regret, give it a chance!
(5)Frank S.
I am really picky on Persian food and since I am coming from LA with all these different Persian restaurants , I wouldnt be satisfied with mediocre type of Persian food but this place satisfied me with the good quality food as well as humble personnel who helped me with my order if I go back to Miami, this place will be one of my stops
(5)Alice C.
The quality of the food was horrible. The hummus was super runny- like soup, the bread for the hummus was super thin and disgusting PLUS it came in the same labeled packaging where Torange bought it from (an obvious "hey we didn't even try to pretend we make this"), and the $13 chicken curry was just bland sauce- if it had 3 little pieces of chicken it would have been too much. I will NEVER order from this place again. this was an absolute ROBBERY!!!!!!!!
(1)Marilyn M.
The food is different and delicious. The eggplant appetizer is awesome. The service is more than excellent. Very. Friendly atmosphere. Will definitely go there again

Make it 4 1/2 stars. Persian cuisine. This is NOT your typical Arabic/Lebanese/Moroccan/ Mediterranean cuisine. Although there are some similarities (Humus, Kebab etc) the spices are different enough that some will find it unfamiliar and not enjoy it because of this. Others, like us, will love it. For starters we were served complimentary small toasted pita tips with yoghurt dip. Very nice. We started with the eggplant dip (Kashk Bademjan) Eggplant with special sauce, fried onions and yogurt sauce. Although I'm familiar with all of the Turkish, Arabic and Southern Med versions of preparing eggplant this was a great surprise. It was delish, nicely presented and plenty for two to share it. My dinner companion ordered a side salad that was diced cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, fresh lemon juice, olive oil and herbs. We picked on it through the whole dinner, it tasted like a pico de gallo or a salsa. For the main dish she ordered the Pomegranate Stew (Fesenjoon) Fried walnut, Pomegranate paste, mixed with shredded chicken. We've had it several times before. It's extremely tasty but just a little too sweet for my personal taste buds. My partner loves it though. I ordered the Grilled Shrimp -Rice mixed with dill, leaks, green onions, garlic and cilantro served with Shrimp. I simply loved it. Best way I can describe it is if for a change a shrimp Scampi could taste fresh and light without losing any of its flavor this would be it. And the waiter was as nice as anyone could be. I had dinner here a few times years back, when the restaurant first opened up, but I put it out of my mind. I had figured that the Parsi food would be a tough sell, especially in a nondescript location some 5 blocks away from Miracle Mile. It was a nice surprise finding that the restaurant was still open. This is probably the only opportunity for anyone in Miami to taste Persian food. For the adventurous who like to try different things I'd say don't wait until it's too late, the cuisine is a treat and the prices are very reasonable too.

I have quickly gone from recently discovering this place to becoming a regular. What can I say? I do love Persian food :) My co-worker and I were able to try their Thursday lunch buffet, and I will probably make this a weekly habit like some others do. It looks small, but they are constantly bringing out fresh meats (both the chicken and the beef kabobs were flying off the shelf, so to speak). It's the same kabobs they have on their lunch menu, but this is all you can eat. The chicken especially was marinated and cooked perfectly, and my co-worker raved about the ground beef kabobs. I helped myself to a large portion of the mast o'khiar (yogurt dip), and that alone made the buffet worth it. Salad and hot tea are at the beginning of the buffet line. They serve three types of rice: regular basmati rice with saffron, green rice (with dill, I believe), and tahdig (crispy rice). At the end, there are three types of stews (which go really well with the tahdig). The damage: $10.99 per person, and I was pleasantly full and a happy Persian.

I don't know the cuisine of Persia but I know what I like. I know a little about Turkish, Greek, and Arabic quisine, and I can see how they intersect. (Negar, my diminutive outspoken waitress/hostess, thanked me for knowing that Persians are not Arabic.) I also recognized pleasant, prompt, friendly, attentive service, decent prices, and good advice. I tried the mixed appetizer and enjoyed hummus, marinated vegetable salad, dolmades-like seasoned rice in grape leaves -- the best I've ever had -- and wonderful pickles I can't describe. And baba-ganoush (I'm sure they use a different name.) I now know what "sumaq" is. tasty herb/spice coating. Green basmati rice. I few items I really should have asked what they wre so I can order again. Wonderful Persian tea, (Negar said, "the best!" ) Small room previously occupied by a Vietnamese restaurant. Very simple. I'll go again next time I'm on Ponce and have a few minutes to spare. BTW: Negar said "takes acquiring a taste" re: the "yogurt soda" but I loved it. yogurt (a little salty) water, and mint. DO try this at home.
(4)Sabia I.
I've eaten here a couple of times and the service has been friendly and impeccable. I had the pomegranate stew which consisted of fried walnuts, pomegranate paste, mixed with chunks of chicken. It's a lovely melange of sweet and sour! It is served with Iranian bread which is like flour tortillas and a dipping sauce of yogurt and mint. We also ordered the egg plant dip. The presentation was attractive and the taste even better: garlicky, minty eggplant with delicate dollops of goat cheese. They have a full menu of espresso drinks. I had a tasty cappuccino.
(4)Mayerly C.
The food is excellent, while the staff is very friendly . Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great Persian restaurant.
(5)Jackie G.
Well, I listened to the reviews that said to give it a chance during Thursday's buffet. I did- and I guess I just don't really care for Persian food. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the food, or the decor- the service was good and the restaurant was clean. The buffet offered 2 types of meat, 3 types of rice, 4 different stew-like options, yogurt sauce (don't know if it was tahini), pita, salad, dressing, hot tea, and watermelon for dessert. After trying the plentiful buffet at La Palma for 12.95, this buffet seemed pretty small. Will I go back? Probably not- but if you like Persian food, then definitely give Torange a try!
(4)Oscar H.
Very unique dining experience, but unlike most unique dining experiences the food is great. I can't say that I can duplicate these flavors at any other spot in town. Everything from the (eggplant) dip to the beef stew and rice are great. I definitely recommend coming in on any day of the week. If it's your first time at Torange try not have the buffet, on Thursdays, be your first experience. The buffet is not bad, but I feel that real treat comes from ordering from the full menu and having the liberty to order anything. I have been there twice and have plans to return for lunch next week. Desert is not something I can recommend, just because we never had any on our visits. Don't let the empty restaurant fool you. I have no idea when people actually come in to dine at Torange because it's always empty. Is it a front for something else? Perhaps they sell magical Persian rugs out back; I don't know and honestly don't care, the food is great.
(4)Elizabeth Z.
Loved everything I had here!!! I ordered the sampler appetizer with the salad, hummus, some sort of delicious eggplant dip and a side of the most delicious feta cheese I've ever had. For dinner I shared three kabobs, a chicken, beef and tenderloin kabob. While the tenderloin was definitely my favorite, the other's were delicious. I'm not much of a chicken person but the chicken kabob was incredibly flavorful. For desert I had the rosewater ice cream. Every single thing I had was fresh, flavorful and, well, interesting! It was a great first foray into Persian cuisine and I must commend our waitress for all her wonderful recommendations, so happy with my experience here!
(5)Tony R.
Friendly, knowledgeable service in a clean, comfortable setting a few blocks north of Miracle Mile. The food is good. Eggplant appetizer and Lamb shank with green rice was quite good. The pomegranate stew with chicken was very tasty but lacked.....chicken! Baklava dessert was ok.
(3)Jen Y.
Great service and great food. Pomegranate walnut chicken was great. A bit sweet and sour rich sos was tasty on the saffron rice.
(5)Señor T.
Awesome overlooked restaurant in a quiet part of the Gables! Had the pomegranate chicken and it was divine. Super friendly service as well. Also: the $14.99 dinner buffet on Friday nights sounds pretty epic.

Good food... a little bit pricey... good service...

Went for the Thursday lunch buffet special. 12-3:30pm every Thursday. It was a nice change of lunch. The buffet was all you can eat, I walked out having tried a little bit of everything and paid $11. The buffet had 3 different stew/soup options: Barley Soup ( good, but very rich), Gheymeh (chunks of beef with yellow split peas cooked in a tomato sauce, excellent flavor), and Ghormeh Sabzi ( sauteed herbs cooked with dries limes, which were awesome, kidney beans and chunks of beef, amazing dish). 3 rice options also: Crispy Rice, Green Rice, and Yellow Rice - all were good, especially the Green Rice when mixed with some Yogurt and Cucumber sauce, which they have at the buffet to accompany rice and beef dishes. Strips of seasoned beef, and charbroiled chicken breasts rounded out the entree options, the beef strips, which were awesome, came with roasted tomatoes - a great addition to the dish. The chicken had a great flavor, which helped me look past it being a bit on the dry side. The buffet also offered green salad with dressing, and bread. The restaurant wasn't bustling, but had a steady stream of people who seemed like regulars. The staff was excellent. I walked to the restaurant, but there is a lot of metered parking in the area for drivers. Getting to sample many different dishes, that you won't find anywhere else, is well worth a weekly lunch trip. Also, the staff told me they'll deliver if you live nearby.

Torange was recommended by a Persian acquaintance. Now that I have experienced the pleasure of dining at Torange, I am thankful for not having to travel all the way to Broward for Persian food, which is rare in this city. The complimentary cucumber yogurt dip served with neatly cut squares of pita was a great starter. For the appetizer, we had the crispy rice with 2 different stews: Herb Stew, and a Beef Stew with yellow split peas. The Herb Stew, by the way, contains beef as well. Both were excellent, my favorite being the beef with the split peas. Thanks to our wonderful server we were able to sample BOTH stews, since she offered to serve the dish with 2 different stews instead of just one. There are 3 rice options: Crispy Rice, Green Rice, and Yellow Rice - For the entree, we decided to order a beef kabob and the Chicken with pomegranate and walnut. The Kebab was tender, moist, and the seasoning was more subtle than kebabs of Indian and middle eastern cuisines. I had been hesitant to order the kebab, because after all, a kebab is a kebab, right? Wrong! And why would I order curry in a Persian restaurant? My skepticism was confirmed by the server who explained that curry is only on the menu for those who want it, but it is not of Persian origin. Chicken with Pomegranate is one of my favorite Persian dishes, and having sampled it at other restaurants, I must say that Torange's is my favorite version. Our lovely server emphasized that the dish was sweet, however, I found it to possess more of the tangy aspect of pomegranate which gave the dish that perfect sweet / sour balance. I only wish the dish was made with lamb instead of chicken, the latter being my least favorite meat. Why would I order Baklava in a Persian restaurant? They were out of a traditional Persian dessert which the server likened to an "Elephant's Ear", but I preferred to order the Persian ice cream anyways, which I am very thankful to have tried. I mentioned to the server that this rich concoction was like Indian Kulfi (ice cream) and she agreed. It was an ecstatic essence of rosewater, saffron, and pistachio; absolutely divine. But be forewarned- the rose essence is the most dominant note, therefore it is not for those who dislike the unusual. I would come here for this ice cream alone.... I must say that I was quite concerned when we saw that the place was empty upon arrival. It did not occur to me at the moment that this is, after all, a Persian restaurant, not a steak house, and in the secluded part of the gables. The ambience is very casual, and so are the prices :). The beer/wine list is very basic. Parking was not an issue at all, since the location is away from the Miracle Mile crowd. However, having coins to feed a meter is still an annoyance which I hate about Coral Gables. This place is a gem, and I truly hope it stays around for as long as I roam Miami.

The Lamb shank is my favorite meal at Torange. Overall good food, but they need to improve some of the dishes. I always feel like something is missing.

Fantastic restaurant, fantastic service.

Excellent food. The staff is very tentative and friendly. Next time you are there ask for Tony, he will take great care of you and your guests.

Great eggplant appetizer and I hate eggplant! I crave it now and want the recipe. Friendly family restaurant

I came to torange for dinner several weeks ago and it was very good. We had a groupon coupon ad it was accepted without fuzz even without reservations. The dinner food was good especially the rice with berberries . good also as the eggplant stew. The yogurts dip was also good. The lentils were fabulous with a warm lemony aromatic flavor. The Joojeh (chicken) was so- so, it seemed to be performed or something. Sadly it looked like the horrible buffet chicken at kulucks in broward.. Which brings me to today when I went to the lunch buffet. Sadly Torange was only so so at best. The same preformed chicken and very buttery green rice that went against traditionally fluffy and light iranian rice preparation ( perhaps a trade off to local tastes)The lamb was so so with a manufactured taste and the variety was the worst of any Iranian buffet in the multi county area. The only good point was they included hot aromatic tea and for those of you who like tahdig ( crunchy rice that forms on he bottom of cooking pans) this buffet did serve it included in the price and with three stews ( none memorable but standard lentils and beef ) to liven things up. Service was good but kebabs especially joojeh seemed to run out. so overall go for inner and be impressed or go for the buffet and make it a n ok but lacking option. f this place served dinner quality food at lunch it could beat Shiraz in both quality and flavor but sadly it doesn't. And too boot the lunch bill for one with no extras just buffet was over 15$....price is also a negative factor at lunch vs a groupon coupon at dinner.

Pretty cool place. I really liked it. My friends and I started with eggplant appetizer. It tasted amazing, then I gave Walnut Pomegranate Chicken a try. So delicious. Also, our server was extremely friendly and helpful. Something you don't see in many places! Ohh by the way, persian ice cream was a great choice to end the dinner. It has rose water, saffron, and pistachios! I dropped one star because the rice was dry, but I guess it is how it is supposed to be. Guys, if you are in Miami, don't miss all these delicious dishes!
(4)Angel D.
This place has great Persian food & friendly staff, will definitely be going back soon!
(5)Jenni K.
Decided to check this place out with my fiance last night after trying some of their food at a festival. It was awesome! We had the Torange appetizer which was stuffed grape leaves, hummus, eggplant dip and a tomato and cucumber salad. It was sooo good. I had the ground beef Kabob and my fiance had the Kabob Soltani. Again, it was excellent. A quaint family owned business and great prices, especially for Coral Gables. I would definitely recommend trying this place out. You wont be disappointed. Planning on going again soon and bringing some friends.

I stopped by this place one night after work at around 9:30. The service was great from the waiter I had whom appeared be the owner's son. The food was good but not great. I had a beef stew and while they provided an adequate portion overall there was not enough beef and too much rice. The rice was not moist enough in my opinion and the food had too much of a saffrony/minty taste if that makes sense but perhaps that is traditional persian style. I would like to eat hear again especially since it is right down the street to try some other dishes to get a better idea of the taste.
(3)Alex C.
I had to write this after reading the reviews.. Clearly some of the reviewers have never had Persian food before.. Persian food is great and it is a cuisine that most people like. The typical main dish is one or two skewers of meat on a very large bed of rice. The kabob are typically very juicy and the rice very aromatic and those dishes are very simple but delicious. There are also stews that have very different spice combinations than what most are used to and they are the love it or hate it type of food. The cuisine is very different than Middle Eastern food. I have had amazing Persian food over the years and Persian restaurants in Miami are few and far in between. Now let's talk about Torange. If I compare it to the average restaurant in Miami it is better although it does not compare to what I consider to be great restaurants in Miami. If I compare it to the great Persian food I have had: It is ok. Would I go back yes. Do I wish there was a better Persian food restaurant in Miami. Yes but for now this is one of only three I know and the other two are the hole in the wall type of places and not nice sit down restaurants.

I had a sandwich which I believe it was called a Ground Beef Kabob Sandwich ! It was very yummy and tasty ! The bread was so warm and soft and good ! It was a very good and at a good price !

This restaurant has roused me from my reviewing hiatus. I have so much to review but this restaurant pushed me to get back on yelp. It's truly that splendid. I was turned on to this restaurant through word of mouth at my local esoteric shop and approached it with a healthy amount of skepticism. As I pulled open the door I was greeted by rich reds and warm browns and tans. It was dated a bit, but welcoming with the beautiful music they had on. The hummus is orgasmic. There's no PC way to put my love for their hummus and neatly cut square pieces of pita. The dip they provide is also very refreshing. The waitstaff are friendly and very attentive during the dinner time. I can't speak for the lunch buffet. The meal itself was exquisite. I ordered the only veg option on the menu- VEGGIE RICE! lol. It was mildly oily almost oriental tasting veggies on basmati rice. It was good. I ordered the Persian ice cream and the rosewater and saffron melted delectably in my mouth. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a touch freezer burnt on top though but it was still fantastic. All in all, this place gets four stars in my book. Do yourself a favor and go and try this place out!

Great experience!!! Had delicious cucumber dip with pita bread as well as hummus. My sister had the ground beef kabob and I had their barberry rice. The service was outstanding and at the end of our meal we received complementary warm tea. Can't wait to return on my next trip to Miami.

2.5 stars This was a much better (worse?) experience than my first time here, when the server brought me horridly salty cottage cheese to drink and kept telling me the chef was going to grab my meat and make it long (hand gestures included). I guess better/worse doesn't mean much. The place smells of dried spices and cedar and offers a $10.99 lunch buffet. Around the trays, the smell shifts to leaking sterno. Their offerings are as follows: beef kabob (still long) - meh. Good quality though chicken kabob - see above white rice- the kind with slightly hard pointy ends lentil rice - not bad "crispy" rice - I thought it was what Cubans call "raspas", from the scraping sound the spoon makes pulling out the last layer of rice in the pot. These were burnt, and tasted more like just the pot. Curry chicken - tasted strongly of curry powder Gheymeh- split peas in a tomato sauce, allegedly with chunks of beef. I thought they looked more like tough meatballs, but that was foolish. Those were preserved lemons. It tasted good initially. By the time I was done trying to cut the meatballs, the dish tasted like a church. My fault. Still, where's the beef? Meat quality (when present) was good. Service was great, but I'm glad I did not bring Mrs. C for the second round. The place was a sort of culinary purgatory , not horrid, just not very good. The place sort of feels depressing, with few lights on and the ribbon of red paint just below the ceiling not done very well. I half expected a group of old men, their bellies permanently at home outside their ribs, whittling the night away playing chess and talking politics. Still, at $11, it is worthwhile to try. It's that or some of the ridiculous overpriced dressed up fast food dotting the Gables.

This place is great! Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the Torange appetizer, which included their eggplant dish, hummus, grape leaves, and salad. Everything was tasty and fresh. Their hummus was particularly yummy. My husband and I split the beef and eggplant stew, which was also very good. Our friend shared his ground beef kabob and that really knocked my socks off!! So yummy! The service was very attentive. The food was delicious. And, given the quality of the food, the price wasn't so bad. All in all it's a must go. We'll definitely be back.

I would've never expected to find a Persian restaurant in the Gables, let alone a good Persian restaurant. So I was thrilled to have discovered this little eatery! I ordered the lamb shank with white basmati rice. The meat fell right off the bone and melted in my mouth. And to nourish my sweet tooth I had some baklava. It wasn't what I was expecting, but that didn't matter - it was still very good! I'm excited to try more of their dishes and have a feeling they will eventually know me by name!

The appetizers are delicious, especially the eggplant dip. I had the lamb shank for an entree. Meat was very tender, but the sauce could have been a little more flavorful. Try the green rice. It's awesome. My friend had the beef kebobs, which were a little overcooked. Overall, though a good dining experience.
